January 2, 2013
As I started planning for 2013, I took a look back at all that I accomplished in 2012. My main question was whether I was achieving my mission of providing top-notch support and services to Practice Managers to help them solve the critical problems they face in today’s medical practices. One of the new support services I am most excited about is the Internet Blog Talk Radio program that I started in November – MORE For Your Practice. If you haven’t had a chance yet to catch my program live, we have podcasts of each show available for download on our website. To listen to these shows, simply visit our MORE For Your Practice page.
I urge you to carve out a little time to listen to these programs. Each program is only 30 minutes and is chock full of valuable information on a variety of topics that support issues Practice Managers are facing every day in managing their busy medical practices. Here’s a look back at the shows we’ve done so far in 2012:
Donna Fickett is a key member of the team at Practice Manager Solutions and an expert in Security Risk Assessments. We have a very lively discussion about what we’re seeing in the field with our clients who are finding that conducting the Security Risk Assessment required by MU Core Measure #15 is a complex and involved process.
Jackie Medley, President of Sound Minded Medical Solutions, highlights the importance of credentialing for medical practices as they bring on more resources for specialized services. Ensuring your practice has appropriate credentialing practices is the key to maintaining smooth and accurate insurance payments. Learn more about Jackie and the topic of credentialing at www.soundmindedsolutions.com/medical/.
Larry Barnett, OSHA Compliance expert – Larry has a knack for making OSHA regulatory compliance lively and interesting. We have a very informative conversation about the ins and outs of OSHA compliance. This is an important topic for every medical practice to master.
Jory Fisher, owner and founder of Jory Fisher & Associates, is an advocate for women who want to transition out of their role as Practice Manager and into a new career. We explore a number of issues to consider before transitioning into a new career. You can find more information about Jory at her website www.joryfisher.com.
Barbara Phillips, 2012 Nurse Practitioner Advocate of the Year, talks about how Nurse Practitioners are running their practices and helping to add to practice cost effectiveness. Learn more about Barbara on her website at www.NPBusiness.org.
Koreen Hart-Morales – Koreen is passionate about helping practice managers to take better care of themselves and encouraging their employees to do so too. This is a great show to listen to as we start out our 2013 resolutions! You can find Koreen’s website at www.hartincorporated.com
Our first show of 2013, which airs on January 9, is with Jody Pugh of Doctors of the USA. Jody is the Client Marketing Director for eMediaStarts and an expert in Social Media and reputation management for the dental and medical industry. We discuss ideas on how medical practices can use social media to provide a positive ‘footprint’ to attract new patients to their practices. Jody has two websites at www.doctorsoftheusa.com and www.eMediaStars.com.
Coming up on January 16th and 23rd is a two-part interview with Leslie Witkins of Physicians First, Inc. Leslie and I talk about important information concerning the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS). Specifically, Leslie advocates dedicating 2013 to understanding PQRS and starting the process of using it so you avoid any future penalties. There is a wealth of information about PQRS on Leslie’s website at www.PhysiciansFirst.com.
We’re excited about the opportunities for MORE For Your Practice in 2013. We have a great line-up of interesting interviews spanning a variety of topics and issues for the future of medical practices. New shows air every Wednesday at 4:30 pm Eastern Time. You can listen live at http://www.healthcarenowradio.com/programs/more-for-your-practice/ or download the podcasts to listen to at a time that’s more convenient for you. We look forward to bringing you MORE for your practice in 2013.
